WE DO IT
Why Should We Care?
Because nothing will matter if we don't have a livable planet for it to matter on.
Environmental problems are everyone's problems, and we are facing what may be the most critical years of urgent action that humanity has ever needed. Everyone has a part to play in ensuring we have a future, and that can come in many different forms. Post-industrial human civilization has focused on advancing our interests with no regard to the planet on which they are developed. The Earth Hacks Foundation consists of a group of young people concerned about whether or not we will have a livable future and taking action into their own hands. We seek to educate and incubate a new generation prepared to develop sustainable technology, policy, and media to address the time-sensitive environmental issues we are currently facing.

The planet doesn't need us, but we need the planet.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) prepared a report in collaboration with a group of 1300 independent science nerds, and 91 authors and reviewers from 40 countries under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) after the adoption of the Paris Agreement. That may sound cool, but actually it's not - the report warns that we stand on the brink of irreversible damage if we allow global temperatures to increase 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Furthermore, in the IPCC's 5th assessment report, the panel concluded there is over a 95% probability that human activities over the past 50 years have warmed our planet. While human civilization has traditionally focused on advancing our interests with no regard to the planet on which they are developed, the Earth Hacks Foundation seeks to educate and incubate a new generation prepared to develop sustainable technology, policy, and media to address the need for sustainability in a growing and increasingly interconnected world. The time to act is now.
