Innovative Expiration

We created an app to help solve the food waste issue that’s plaguing America.

Inspiration

1/3 of food supply becomes food waste, mostly coming from expired food.

What it does

Connects the retailers offering discounted expiring food to consumers watching their wallets. We reduced this mountain of wasted food with the service our app provides.

How they built it

Use Adobe Illustrator to design the user interface. Use Ionic to develop a web or app application. Use Geolocation API to localize where the user is.

Challenges they ran into

Developing the presentation structure. Collecting and displaying enough information for the development platforms.

Accomplishments they are proud of

Developed a three-win situation for the app to be based on retailers, consumers, and the app. We're proud we started to solve this serious problem of wasting food.

What they learned

How to think as a team to solve problems. Thinking more outside the box to solve the problems that our community faces.

What’s next?

Make a negation with several retailers to begin the expansion of our app.
